Gliding on High HeelsBeauty queens and models are enchanting, if only with the way they manage to sashay gracefully in long gowns and with their feet clad in three-inch heels. It is nothing short of a miracle if a mere mortal woman gets to stride in those high heels without tripping, and yet those goddesses get to do it as if those high heels are nothing. But underneath the layers of makeup and glamour, beauty queens and models are just women, and the art of gliding on high heels can be learned. It is actually quite simple, when you get the hang of it. The first step is to buy shoes that fit and are comfortable. Never wear heels that you feel you cannot take on, and try to walk in those shoes inside the store before you actually pay for them. The second step to gliding on high heels is to practice. Practicing your glide on those heels makes perfect, and it will also break your shoes in, making them a lot more comfortable for you to wear. The third step is walking properly. Point your toes straight ahead of you instead of to the side, and then set your heel down. Swing your arms to keep your body balanced - right arm out as you step forward with your left foot, left arm out as you step with the right. Keep your posture and your gaze straight so you can see ahead the spots where you might fall. An additional trick to surviving a glide on high heels and wearing a long skirt is to use your knees to discreetly kick your skirt away from your shoes. This will keep you from tripping on your skirt. And if ever you do trip on your skirts, remain calm and try not to make a big deal out of it. Tripping on your skirts becomes embarrassing only when you make it look embarrassing. Always remember that the ability to walk gracefully on three-inch high heels and in a long skirt is not the exclusive province of beauty queens and models. You can do it if you put your mind to it. Just remember to keep your feet rested afterwards. |
