Children’s White Ballet Shoes

Children and the color white rarely mix. This is something that all parents either naturally know – or quickly learn. But for some reason, many ballet instructors want their tiny students to have children’s white ballet shoes. Finding children’s white ballet shoes isn’t difficult, but keeping them clean sure is!

The first step is to purchase two pairs of ballet slippers. Your child won’t want to take them off when they should, and it will be easier to have two or three pairs – one for dance class, one for recitals – and one that the child can wear when they want, without worrying about getting them dirty. Carry the ‘everyday’ pair around with you – especially to dance class and recitals – so the child can easily slip out of the nice white pair, and into the everyday pair.

Keep the pair that needs to be kept clean put up in a shoe box between dance classes and recitals. Do not allow the child to wear this pair on the way to or from dance class. Have them put these on just right before the class starts. If you don’t have an extra pair, have the child wear their regular shoes instead.

If these shoes need to be cleaned, take them to a dry cleaner. This is your best option for getting stains and dirt out, while keeping the shoes looking new. You can try to clean the shoes yourself, but most are made of satin. If you owned a satin dress, you probably would not try to clean that yourself!

Using a bit of caution and extra loving care will keep your children’s white ballet shoes looking brand new. When recital time rolls around, you can sit in the audience and watch your little ballet dancer display their talent in the whitest pair of ballet slippers that anyone has ever seen!
